A superb Indus Valley clay figure of a mother goddess wearing an elaborately arranged headdress and broad collar necklace. The facial features defined with beak shaped nose and button shaped eyes, the genitalia and breasts are also clearly defined and an incised line separates the legs. Portrayed with arms outstretched. Typical for Shunga period clay figures. Overall a beautiful piece. Two of the flowers and a piece of the buttocks has been reattached otherwise intact, no new clay added. ...click for details

Known as Incantation bowls or devil trap bowls; were buried upside down inside homes, the spell a trap to catch demons. This bowl has been rejoined from 4 original fragments with no other restoration. A small section of the rim missing.
