An interesting rare faience plaque depicting the Goddess Quedesh standing on the back of a lioness, arms out spread holding two creatures with tails in the form of lotus flowers. A very rare depiction. The overall condition of the plaque is superb with majority of its green glaze intact. The reverse appears to have remnants of silver, the plaque may have been inset into a silver mount and worn. Dating to the Persian period circa 525-404 BC Measures 63mm height / 35mm diameter. Ex-Lowens collection. |
