Ancient Summerian alabaster libation vessel
A very rare Summerian libation vessel fashioned from alabaster. The body has been shaped similar to pouring vessels made from sea shells. The spout in the form of a rams head. The tip of the spout appears to once have been adorned with an attatchment of some form(now missing). The hollow eye sockets possibly may have had gold or lapis lazuli inset (now missing). Overall the detail of the piece is beautiful and its calcified patina adds to its character.

Dating to circa 2550-2400 BC

Measures 113mm length

Ex-private collection Perth.

Mounted on custom made display stand.
