Ancient Sabean limestone pillar stele
A nice Sabean South Arabian limestone pillar carved in high relief with the face of a man and a four letter inscription which translates to SALEM (SL'M) meaning a blessing for peace. Remnants of red pigment on lips.

Dating to circa 1st century BC

measures 320mm height, mounted on hardwood display stand.

Ex-private Melbourne collection.
