A beautiful rare Indo-Greek grey schist cosmetic palette carved in very detailed high relief with a man and women in arms holding bowls. The underside decorated with a lotus leaf.
These stone palettes provide an interesting instance of Hellenistic art in the northwestern Indian subcontinent, disconnected from the Buddhist narrative to which it is usually associated in the Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara. Comes with featured display stand. Dating to circa 2nd-1st century BC. Measures 13cm height / 23cm height on display stand. Ex-private West Australian collection. |
